Lives At Stake

Torrie looked at Shawn.

"You're calling..John..a big meanie?" Torrie asked, exhausted from all the tears she'd cried.

"Come on John" The doctor encouraged, but John just laid there on the edge of survival.

"No...god. Don't you dare take my best friend!" Shawn said as he looked up.

Torrie gently put her hand on the window, while tears rose again in her eyes.

"I...love you..." Torrie muttered as she stared at John.

"Okay charge at 360" The doctor spoke while John laid there lifeless.

He put the equipment on John's barechest, trying to save him, "Stepback, clear" The doctor said to his team. Everyone stepped away, while Torrie's heart jumped in heartbreak when she watched John's body jilt up trying to restart his heart but it didn't work.

Shawn kept staring up at the ceiling, with tears in his eyes. Torrie put her hand around her mouth while she felt herself break down in fear feeling John slipping through her fingers.

Shawn put his hand on Torrie's shoulder as he stared at John.

"He's broke...his...promi..se" Torrie stuttered as she looked at John.

"What promise?" Shawn asked.

"He...swore...he wouldn't leave...me" Torrie stuttered in her tears, in the uttermost tears.

"He won't leave you." Shawn said.

Torrie turned to Shawn to see him motionless.

"Look at him Shawn! he's not gonna pull through..he's finally given up" Torrie muttered, losing the faith.

"He's still not responding" A nurse spoke with a soft sigh.

"His pressure still dropping" Another spoke.

"No he hasn't Torrie just don't stop believing in him." Shawn said.

"I'm tired of holding on.." Torrie muttered feeling struck down.

"You have to keep trying." Shawn said.

Torrie shook her head, as she looked at John and felt her heart break even more when her eyes met his motionless body.

"No..I can't" Torrie spoke softly, she went to walk away but Shawn grabbed hold of her hand. Torrie let out a soft breath through her lips when she felt Shawn pull her back. He looked at her with "He will die, if you let go of your faith" look across his face.

Torrie looked at Shawn, then stared at John.

"There's still no change...." Torrie muttered gently with tears in her eyes.

Torrie stared at Shawn through her heartbroken tears. The doctor looked up from John's body catching Torrie's expression.

"I'm sorry" He said, making Torrie just put her hands around her mouth crying instantly.

"He will...Torrie...he will.." Shawn stuttered, but John's remained a lifeless body.

Torrie lowered her head down, while she let out a small whimper "No, John...please" Torrie muttered.

"Come on John" The doctor encouraged, he did it again and the monitor changed.

Shawn let out a small smile, while Torrie had her head down in tears thinking John's died and left her. She didn't see the faint heartbeat on the monitor, or John's chest rising up and down slowly, very softly.

Shawn started jumping up and down.

"Torrie look, look." Shawn said with a smile.

Torrie kept her eyes on the tiles marble floor, while she felt her heart just break.

"No..Shawn" Torrie spoke, she still didn't see John's chest rising up and down while he clung unto survival with a weak grip but he still was fighting.

Kayla just stayed on the wall with her head down while she cried.

Lilian leaned her Cody's shoulder while she, Maryse, Soraya all sat in the waiting room. "I hate Trish with a passion what she's done" Lilian spoke to Soraya.

"But he's breathing." Shawn said.

Torrie slowly perked up her head, "What?" Torrie muttered.

"Look! Torrie! the monitor!" Shawn encouraged, the Boise Belle turned her eyes to the monitor. She felt a flutter in her heart, as she gasped with happiness seeing the monitor and hearing a different noise.

"John" Torrie spoke with tears in her eyes, but his body remained motionless.

She turned to Shawn. "Why? isn't...he moving?" Torrie asked, Shawn looked at Torrie before he turned his attention to John.

"I..don't...know"

Torrie put her right hand around her mouth, not knowing what is going on. Her eyes turned to the door when she saw the doctor come out.

"Is he okay? how is he?!" Torrie asked shooting questions at him, making Shawn gently calm her down but she was more worried about John.

"Torrie, can we sit down?" The doctor asked.

Tears rose deep in Torrie's eyes feeling the fear rise in her body "No I..want to know now, I don't want to sit down!" Torrie spoke feeling her lip start to tremble.

The doctor sighed gently "Torrie, I'm afraid...there's nothing else we can do for your husband" He spoke to the Boise Beauty.

Torrie felt a sharp blow collide with her heart hearing his words "No..." Torrie muttered in her heartbreak. Shawn stared at the doctor then looked up at the ceiling.

"There has to be something you can do." Shawn said.

"I'm afraid not, John is weak he can't fight what's happened to him his body has just shut down," The doctor spoke.

Torrie stared at John, then at the doctor "What do you mean..shut...down?" Torrie asked scared.

"His heart can't take it, it's not strong enough"

"So what...are you telling us doc" Shawn asked.

The doctor took in a deep breath before he looked at Torrie. "I'm so sorry but your husband is already lost," He spoke.

"What? No! he's gonna be fine I mean....there's....a heart-..beat" Torrie's voice cracked in her words.

"If the machine was turned off there wouldn't be one Torrie" The doctor said, Torrie's lips slightly parted in shock but fear rose deeper, and deeper in her eyes along with the tears.

"No! No!..No!" Torrie cried while she continued to cry with Shawn standing behind her.

"I'm very sorry but I need permission" The doctor said.

"Permission?" Torrie asked with tears in her eyes while Shawn comforted her.

"To..turn the machine off..."

"No! John's still alive I know he is! Shawn tell them! he is!" Torrie spoke with strength in her green eyes, while she did her best not to break down.

"Tor...honey" Shawn sighed.

"No! Shawn you promised me! Shawn! don't you dare say it" Torrie's voice kept breaking in tears.

Torrie looked at Shawn.

"Please," Torrie muttered, not wanting to hear it from HBK because then she knew it was real.
