Elevator Malfunction

"How?" Candice said. "I'm not going to go running to Destiny about what happened in here?"

He looked up at her. "You're not?"

"No." Candice shook her head. "Why would I?"

Chris shrugged. "I don't know...maybe I thought you would get her to hate me..."

"Chris, why would I do something like that?" Candice shook her head. "Come on, you know me."

"But I kissed you when I shouldn't have," said Chris. "I'm with Destiny! I should have thought about her first before I did anything stupid!"

"Chris," Candice sighed. "We're stuck in an elevator. We got caught up in the moment because obviously there's always going to be something between us."

"I shouldn't have let my feelings get in the way," Chris said. "I even interrupted your wedding because of that..."

"A last ditch effort in winning me back." Candice said. "And compared to other weddings we've had recently, mine actually went the most smoothly."

"All fine and dandy for you right?" Chris muttered.

"Not always." Candice murmured. "But for the most part, yeah, I'm happy."

"Well, you know what? I'm happy that you're happy," Chris said. "I mean you're married, you have a kid...you've got it all now."

"Thank you. And so can you, Chris. You've got the chance to have it all too...with Destiny." Candice told him.

"But....how can I when a part of me is still pining for you?" Chris asked.

"You have to find a way to block it, Chris." Candice said. "You have to let me go, for your sake."

"Easier said than done..." Then he sighed and dug his face into his knees.

"Chris, it's because you're not letting yourself. You're still holding onto me, and in doing so, you're holding yourself back." Candice sat down beside him. "While, I'd love to be the girl of your dreams forever, that's not fair to you."

"Or..." He lifted his head up. "This could be something that I deserve for being the selfish bastard..."

"Chris, you're not a selfish bastard." Candice tucked her arm through his and let her head fall against his shoulder. "We just have to live with the what if's as consequences of our actions."

Chris sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "Yeah, I suppose...."

"Chris, you know if you ever need me," Candice said. "I'm always here for you."

He looked at her. "Really? Despite of everything that's happened?"

"Hey," Candice shrugged. "I can't help it. A part of me still loves you, and I forgave you a long time ago."

He studied her face for a moment and smiled. "You never cease amaze me, that's for sure."

"Well, I try." Candice smiled. "And you're a good person, Chris Jericho, don't let anyone tell you different. We both know better."
