Side By Side

John walked downstairs then out the door to his car. He gently lied Torrie in the backseat before getting in the car and drove to the hospital.

Torrie's eyes fluttered open, her eyes saw a white ceiling in her vision. She slowly turned her head, before she noticed John with his head down.

While she laid in the hospital bed, after she had blacked out. "John..." She muttered, she raised her hand gently to his forearm to get his attention.

John looked at Torrie.

"Tor." John muttered.

Torrie blinked a few times slowly, before she gently raised her upper body to lean on the soft pillows.

"Where am I?"

"Hospital sweetheart" John muttered while he gently stroked her blonde hair.

"Hospital?...why?" Torrie asked.

"You passed out." John said.

Torrie slowly nodded his head, she went to get off the bed.

"Well I'm fine now, so come on let's go I'm leaving" Torrie spoke.

"No you're not." John said.

"Yes I am," Torrie spoke.

"No you're not, I'm not leaving this hospital until I find out what they can do for you" John spoke.

"What about the show?" Torrie asked.

"Steph's taking care of it." John said.

"What do you mean Steph is taking care of it, I was looking forward to going" Torrie groaned, while John gently put her back on the bed.

"We can, just a little...later"

"How later?"

"In 4 months"

"4 months! John can't we just go, and go there?" Torrie asked.

"Torrie calm down and relax." John said.

"No damn it! I'm not going through again! it killed me the first time when he told me my career is done" Torrie spoke.

"But you still came back" John muttered.

"That's because I wanted too," Torrie spoke back.

"Torrie just relax." John said.

Torrie looked at John.

"I'm not going through this again, you won't there last time...so you cannot stop me" Torrie spoke.

"Yes I can." John said.

"You're weren't there last time John," Torrie muttered.

"I know but I'm here now." John said.

"But I'm scared," Torrie muttered.

"I know but I'm here." John said.

Torrie turned her head to John, staring into his ocean eyes.

"Yeah but for how long?" Torrie asked, turning her head away from him.

"For a long time." John said.

Torrie continued to stare at the wall, before she felt a hand gently touch her chin.

"Sweetie, I'm here for you forever," John spoke.

"Good, because I can't go through this without you," Torrie muttered.

"You won't be without me," John muttered.

A doctor came in, and looked at John and Torrie.

"Is there anything you can do? I'm not letting her die" John spoke.

"Die? Torrie's not gonna die,"

"What? that's what she told me...scaring me half to death" John spoke turning back to Torrie.

"I explained to Torrie, that I can do operate on her back"

"What? you never told me that,"

Torrie just kept her mouth closed as she laid in silence.

"Well there's a chance I could be parylsed for life" She muttered.

"There is a potential risk, like there was last time" The doctor spoke.

"That's why I'm not going through with it" Torrie said.

John sighed as he looked down at the floor.

"Torrie, if you don't then in time there's a chance your body will pack up," The doctor spoke.

Torrie stared at him, before she firmly shook her head.

"Torrie please just go through the surgery." John muttered.
